Obi-Wan Spinoff Movie Speculations and Leaks

While we all know nowadays Star Wars Episode VII will be produced and released by December 2015, followed by Episode VII in 2017 in addition to Episode VII in 2019. Nonetheless, Disney announced they are firmly thinking of (and planning) developing a few original spinoff films that could give attention to many of the Saga’s best persona. Up to now, Boba Fett and Han Solo have been considered the top candidates for this prestigious honor, but there is one more character that’s quickly rising on every poll – Obi-Wan Kenobi! He is a fan favourite among everyone – the oldest of fans, the core audience as well as the kids (thanks to The Clone Wars animated series). So, let’s break this down and see just what is going on.

Spinoff Movie About Obi-Wan – How All This Ties In

So, let’s try and continue where we left off in our original post. As Star Wars 7 News has reported, Bob Iger already said on CNBC in 2012 that Disney has plans to create a couple of independent Star Wars spinoff movies and recent Obi-Wan movie leaks confirm the original idea at the very least. Earlier gossips speculated that we can expect to see a spinoff movie featuring Han Solo, Boba Fett as well as Master Yoda within these independent motion pictures. However, we can now feel free to add Obi-Wan to the list.

Currently, as the rumors stand, we can expect to first see a Boba Fett movie in late 2016 along with a Han Solo spinoff in late2018. Once the new trilogy has ended in 2019 we will get one final spinoff movie featuring Obi-Wan in 2020 which is certainly very exciting news. However, it should also be noted that this currently unconfirmed and that you shouldn’t take our word for it.

Is an Obi-Wan Kenobi Movie a Good Idea?

My general question would be – why do you think it would be a bad idea? The character of Obi-Wan is loved by Star Wars enthusiasts across the World and (in addition) the actor Ewan McGregor (who played Obi-Wan in Episodes II and III) is now a mature, high-profile actor who could bring the movie justice. Of course, this is based on the speculation that the movie would be set in a timeframe between Episode III: Revenge of the Sith and Episode IV: A New Hope. Honestly, this is the best idea we can see – and it would finally untangle some loose ends. Considering that Disney has abandoned the Expanded Universe, Obi-Wans original story will have to be reinvented and – who knows – maybe they think of something good!

However, there is nothing that we can do for now, but sit and wait for good news. Be sure to send tweets to @starwars asking them about the new spinoff movie – it should give them a hint that people are interested. In the meantime, we’ll keep a close eye on the official Star Wars 7 IMDB page and look for news about the upcoming movie.
